Culture Coventry is a newly formed charitable trust (2013) managing the most important cultural and heritage sites and venues in Coventry; Coventry Transport Museum, The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, The Lunt Roman Fort and the History Centre (City Archive deposit). It is a recognised educational charity devoted to telling the rich history of Coventry City, from the early Roman times to present day.
Coventry Transport Museum is home to the largest collection of British road transport, including the two fastest cars in the world. The museum houses a national dedicated collection that specifically tells the history of the world famous car manufacturing industry from its inception in the 1900’s to its decline in the 1980’s and its rejuvenation in innovation through surviving high end car manufacturing.
The museums within the trust have an award winning learning team working to develop lifelong learning opportunities through its collections and temporary exhibitions. Part of this team is a unique entity; the Herbert Media Team. They have a specialism of working with the most disaffected young people of Coventry to engage them through accredited vocational training that includes professional working practices for our partners.
The Media Team train young people in how to work in the creative industries, using digital media as a tool to engage young people at risk of social exclusion and young people with a learning disability.
